Snuggle Celebrity Soft-T's auction to benefit the Make-A-Wish Foundation
Press Release provided by Newstream

Snuggle® Launches T-shirt Decorating Campaign to Benefit the Make-A-Wish Foundation®

May 2002 (Newstream) -- Ever dream of cuddling up in George Clooney's T-shirt or lounging around in Ben Affleck's? How about being the envy of friends by donning a one-of-a-kind creation by Rosie O'Donnell? Well, Snuggle® fabric softener has found a way to make these dreams a reality, and at the same time help grant the wishes of children with life-threatening illnesses! Known to families for its softness, Snuggle tapped into the softer side of celebrities and asked them to decorate T-shirts that are being auctioned off on Snuggle.com, with all proceeds benefiting the Make-A-Wish Foundation. In addition to the auction proceeds, the Make-A-Wish Foundation received a $50,000 donation from Snuggle to help support its remarkable work for children and families.

Celebrities Show Their Style

Celebrities from movies, TV, music and sports were invited to "express their softer side" for Snuggle and the Make-A-Wish Foundation, and were sent a special Soft-T's decorating kit to inspire them with feathers, sequins, puffy paints and markers. They were asked to cut, sew, scrunch, paste on mementos or use soft funky patches, cool trim or sparkly rhinestones on the shirt.

Ben Affleck, Whoopi Goldberg, Katie Couric, Matt Lauer, Courteney Cox, Lucy Liu, Joan Rivers, Jay Leno, Jessica Alba, Ben Stiller, Jules Asner, the NY Mets, Leeza Gibbons, FDNY, Tara Lipinski, the cast of The Practice, Emmitt Smith, Teri Hatcher, the original cast the Producers, the cast of One Life to Live, Johnny Depp, Wayne Brady, Gloria Estefan and LeAnn Rimes are just a sampling of the Celebrity Soft-T's who have provided their artistic expressions for the program. Rosie O'Donnell expressed her softer side by depicting a patriotic helping hand, and Patricia Heaton created a heart with soft feathers. Susan Sarandon quoted Anne Frank, while Eriq LaSalle and George Clooney focused on peace and happiness.

Over 70 Celebrity Soft-T's are featured on Snuggle.com, so visitors can see them and decide which shirt they would like to add to their collection.

Jane Seymour Unveils Soft-T's for Auction

Actress Jane Seymour, mother of six, who is also an artist and clothing designer, serves as national spokesperson for the program to benefit the Make-A-Wish Foundation. She helped officially unveil the Snuggle Celebrity Soft-T's collection at a T-shirt decorating party on May 7th. Children from the Make-A-Wish Foundation had the opportunity to decorate T-shirts side-by-side with their favorite stars, and attendees got an up close view of the celebrity decorated shirts and were able to bid on the Soft-T's up for auction.

The auction of the celebrity designed Soft-T's will take place in two rounds with the first round running until May 16th. The second round will begin on May 13th and end on May 23rd. All the funds raised through the auction will benefit the Make-A-Wish Foundation.

Wishes Really Do Come True

The Make-A-Wish Foundation is the largest wish-granting organization in the world and has granted wishes for more than 83,000 children worldwide.

"We express our softer side on a daily basis by trying to make the dreams of sick children a reality," said Paula Van Ness, president and CEO of the Make-A-Wish Foundation of America. "This program is exciting because Snuggle and the celebrities involved are bringing attention to the work of our organization and helping to fulfill more wishes for the children who are referred to us. We want to bring this uplifting gift to every sick child, to be able to brighten their lives as they face life-threatening challenges."

"Snuggle fabric softener believes that softness is a strength," said Helayna Minsk, director of Snuggle, "which is why the message of the Celebrity Soft-T's campaign is to get in touch with your softer side and help kids in need. The brand is grateful to the many celebrities who have shared their softness and creativity to support the Make-A-Wish Foundation."
